Building Designees

Under the Supervision of the Special Education Supervisor and Principal, the Building Special Education Designee shall have knowledge of the Arkansas Department of Education Eligibility Criteria and Program Guidelines for Special Education; the ability to work successfully with students, parents, teachers, and school personnel; and the ability to communicate student needs to parents and school personnel.

Psychological Examiner/Educational Examiner

Under the authority of the Special Education Supervisor, the Psychological Examiner is responsible for assessing and evaluating students from Pre-K to 12th grade, which includes: Interviewing, observing, administering and interpreting standardized testing instruments that measure cognitive and academic abilities; Describe behavior, personality characteristics , attitude, or aptitude. Assessment and Evaluation is conducted in order to determine eligibility for Special Education services, placement or conduct reevaluation, or occupational guidance and planning.

Special Education Records

Special Education records are maintained for five years after students graduate, are dismissed from services, or withdraw from the HSSD. A notice is then posted in the Sentinel Record Newspaper and these records are destroyed in a confidential manner. Records are available to the student or parent (if the student is under 18 years old) by request.
