HSSD Kindergarten Programs

Welcome to Trojan Kindergarten Students and Families! Please find information below about our requirements for kindergarten students, as well as school-specific information for all four of our magnet elementary schools at the Hot Springs School District (HSSD).
REGISTER: Families will be able to register by attending a Kindergarten Roundup (open house) event, or by picking up a Registration Packet from one of our four elementary schools, or by printing and completing the 2022-2023 Registration Packet, here and sending it to one of our elementary schools, or can reserve a kindergarten spot online here and request that a Registration Packet be mailed to them. Other registration requirements are below ...

- REGISTRATION & REQUIRED INFO: After the 2022-2023 Registration Packet is completed, full student registration will only be complete once the school has received the following additional items: 1) Copy of Birth Certificate; 2) Copy of Social Security Card; 3) Shot Records; 4) Proof of residency (which may include a gas, electric, or water utility bill OR rent receipt OR lease agreement with a current date), 5) and a Physical Assessment.

- AGE REQUIREMENT: Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2022.

Langston Elementary Leadership Academy Magnet School

As a Leadership Academy Magnet School, Langston focuses on community awareness, communication, health and wellness, environment, service, and hospitality. Langston is also a “Leader in Me” school, which means that educators use a system of core values that promote leadership skills and service-minded attitudes side-by-side with curriculum.

Magnet School Theme:

Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School ensures a high quality education enriched by visual and performing arts opportunities and electives including an annual Jr. Broadway production, choir, show choir, band, strings, jazz, tap, ballet, hands-on art activities, and more. This magnet school is renowned in the Hot Springs area for offering drama, art, and music that move the entire community.

Magnet School Theme:

As a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Magnet School, Gardner (soon-to-be Oaklawn STEM) provides students with an innovative, technology-rich learning environment where they experience and communicate literacy, mathematics, science, and engineering as an integral part of everyday life. Gardner is among only a select group of Arkansas elementary schools to offer EAST at the elementary level. It is also the only HSSD elementary school to offer two robotics clubs, and STEM Day events each semester for all students.
