HSSD Kindergarten Registration

Welcome Trojan Kindergarten Students and Families! Please find information below about our requirements for kindergartners, as well as school-specific information for all four of our magnet elementary schools at the Hot Springs School District (HSSD). 

- REGISTRATION & REQUIRED INFO: All HSSD elementary students MUST register at their assigned school in order to secure placement. The items required to register a kindergarten student are the same at all schools, and include: 1) Copy of Birth Certificate; 2) Copy of Social Security Card; 3) Shot Records; 4) Documentation of Current Physical; 5) Proof of residency (which may include a gas, electric, or water utility bill OR rent receipt OR lease agreement with a current date).

- AGE REQUIREMENT: Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2020.

- REGISTRATION DATE: Kindergarten registration has been postponed until after the AMI period. We appreciate your patience during this time. Please stay safe and well!

- OPEN HOUSE: Open house and/or community events will be re-scheduled at each HSSD elementary school to allow new kindergarten students and families to visit our campuses.

- LOCATION CHANGES: Please pay attention to details for each school below, as two of our elementary schools are moving campuses during the summer before the 2020-2021 school year. 

- Staff members are available at each elementary school to assist with registration.

Langston Elementary Leadership Academy Magnet School

As a Leadership Academy Magnet School, Langston focuses on community awareness, communication, health and wellness, environment, service, and hospitality. Langston is also a “Leader in Me” school, which means that educators use a system of core values that promote leadership skills and service-minded attitudes side-by-side with curriculum. 

 

Main Street Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School

Magnet School Theme:

Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School (soon-to-be Main Street Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School) ensures a high quality education enriched by visual and performing arts opportunities and electives including an annual Jr. Broadway production, choir, show choir, band, strings, jazz, tap, ballet, hands-on art activities, and more. This magnet school is renowned in the Hot Springs area for offering drama, art, and music that move the entire community. 

 

Oaklawn STEM Magnet School

Magnet School Theme:

As a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Magnet School, Gardner (soon-to-be Oaklawn STEM) provides students with an innovative, technology-rich learning environment where they experience and communicate literacy, mathematics, science, and engineering as an integral part of everyday life. Gardner is among only a select group of Arkansas elementary schools to offer EAST at the elementary level. It is also the only HSSD elementary school to offer two robotics clubs, and STEM Day events each semester for all students.


Park Magnet, an IB World School

Magnet School Theme:

Park Magnet is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, which means it offers curriculum through the IB Primary Years Programme.
