August 2017 Update

The school year is in full swing.  More than 3700 students have joined the 500 plus faculty and staff to begin a great 2017-18 school year.  We are not just excited about the start of the new school year, but the on time successful completion of the first phase of the millage projects.  The band shell, street to panama and the stadium visitor parking lot are done and in use.   The other major project which is in motion is the roof at the Hot Springs Junior Academy.  The roof project is slatted conclude mid to late September.

We have been working with our architects over the past few months on the plans for both the new Langston Elementary and the Hot Springs Junior Academy.  We are moving closer and closer to starting ground work on the new Langston building.  One of latest discussion was around the setup of the science lab at Langston.  We have included a drawing.  There are many elements that go into building a new school.  We hope to submit our drawings to the state facilities offices for review and approval by the end of this month and to begin work on the new Langston facility before the close of October 2017!  This has been a very lengthy process, but one that has been exciting.  The excitement is merely beginning.

In preparation of construction at Langston we have rerouted buses as well as car riders.  We have also put in a temporary playground area as the current location of the playground will be the site of the new Langston building.  We will have some inconvenience as we grow and build the new Langston School.  Caution!  Construction Ahead….

After the Langston plans have been submitted, our complete focus will be on fine tuning the plans for the new Hot Springs Junior Academy Building which will be housed on the east end of the High School campus.

There are truly exciting times for our district…stay tuned!
