The Hot Springs School District Administration and School Board are pleased to announce, following a special called Hot Springs School District (HSSD) Board Meeting last night, Ms. Kyria Wilson has been selected as the new Principal for Langston Elementary Leadership Academy.


“Ms. Wilson is a seasoned administrator at the Hot Springs School District, and has worked under several great Trojan mentors. She is beyond ready for this position, and we are thrilled to give her this opportunity to work with our Langston team and our student body (the Langston Leaders!) in Pre-K-6th grade. She is passionate about her work, and believes in our kids.”


A native of Brooklyn, New York, Ms. Wilson has served as an Assistant Principal at the HSSD for four years, most recently at the Hot Springs Junior Academy. Prior to serving on the HSSD administrative staff, Ms. Wilson taught 5th grade Math at Hot Springs Intermediate School. She was hired by the HSSD in January of 2014. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the University of North Texas, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Arkansas and will graduate with her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction from Baylor University.


Earlier this year, Ms. Wilson was named the Arkansas Association of Middle Level Administrators Assistant Principal of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. 


Ms. Wilson shares that she is honored and excited to serve as Principal of Langston. She states, “I look forward to working with the staff, students, families and the community as we continue to grow a strong legacy of learning at Langston Elementary Leadership Academy. I am passionate about educational equity and making sure our students are equipped to not only move to the next grade level, but to go out and be productive citizens and leaders in our society.”  She is the mother of three boys and enjoys being involved in their daily activities and spending time with friends and family.
