I have four outstanding, anonymous shoutouts to share with you this afternoon! Everyone be safe traveling to Rusellville this evening as our Boys Basketball Team competes in the 5A State Tournament and/or traveling to and from our Girls Soccer game at Home vs. Valley View and/or Boys Soccer at Lakeside vs. Sylvan Hills.

Here’s a shoutout for our Gardner STEM: “Mrs. Crawford at Gardner is becoming a Science of Reading CHAMP! She had all of her students explain the rules for syllable division and they worked hard to share their work. Thank you Mrs. Crawford for using strong academic language and being committed to providing THE BEST for our students.”

Read this shoutout for our HSJA: “Mr. Lenox and Mr. Shepard are making a difference at HSJA. They have high expectations for their students and coach them through solving equations like pros! Thank you both for being committed to your job as an educator and as a coach.”

See this shoutout for our HSWCHS: “Our HSWCHS Theatre students were amazing at the Garland County Library this week (the cast members from "Alice" put on an entertaining, interactive show for the Langston Literacy Night at GCL)! Ms. Potts is doing amazing things with this talented group. I love seeing our kids working in the Hot Springs community, and using their unique talents to inspire our younger students and citizens of all ages.”

Finally, read another here for our HSJA: “In WalMart today, I overhead a worker say to a colleague ..."It is so cool that our local schools are teaching kids how to shop and cook. And - they're so polite, too!" Our HSJA JAG classes [which they were watching from across the aisle], under supervision from JAG Coordinator Mrs. Goodman and a group of generous chaperones and volunteers, are making trips to WalMart today and Monday to purchase items to then take home and make meals for their families as part of a skills-based assignment. This is a wonderfully creative assignment, AND - it's so encouraging when individuals from outside of our own district notice how awesome our Trojan kids are! “

Trojan ‘Good Things’ is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! It is her goal to communicate all the positives happening in #HSSD. If you have any special events happening in your classes or buildings or if you know of someone we need to give a shout out to, please complete the form at
