Oaklawn students in the Gifted & Talented Program used GT class time to read Martin’s Big Words, a children’s narrative that describes the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through quotes and watercolor portraits and patterns. They made a list of adjectives used to describe Dr. King in the book, and discussed how and why those attributes are so important to being a good leader. They concluded by creating lists to describe themselves, and used both lists as reminders about how we should act and treat each other in our day-to-day lives.
