Drama students in 7th-12th grade bring the musical production “Elf” to the Hot Springs School District December 12-14 at the Hot Springs Junior Academy Auditorium. An outstanding cast of 25 actors and 11 dancers have rehearsed since August for roles and performances to warm your heart and bring holiday spirit to all!

All performances take place at the Hot Springs Junior Academy (701 Main Street). Admission is $3 for adults, and children 10 and under are free. The entry fee on Saturday, December 14, will be waived if attendees bring hats or gloves to donate to Garland County homeless shelters.

Performance Dates

Thursday, December 12: 12:30 p.m.

(this performance will include all HSSD elementary school students)

Friday, December 13: 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, December 14: 2:00 p.m.

Cameron Dickerson, senior at our HSSD, plays the lead character of “Buddy” the Elf. This is Cameron’s first time playing the lead role, but he has been involved in the HSSD drama program and drama productions since 9th grade.  “I am happy and proud to be playing the lead role. It’s such an honor. I know everyone will love this! We’ve all worked so hard,” he says.

Cameron’s favorite scene as Buddy the Elf is the one with the singing telegram. It is the first scene where Buddy meets his father, Walter (Walter has never heard that he has another son and he hates Christmas). Walter assumes Buddy is there to deliver a singing telegram disguised as an elf as a holiday joke. Buddy takes the opportunity to sing seriously, and sings the message to Watler that he has a long lost son … who is also an Elf from the North Pole.

More from Cameron …
“Opportunities to enjoy drama classes, practices, and productions have helped me enjoy my educational experience.”

“Students involved with our drama classes and performances enjoy having an extracurricular offering like this. We are lucky to have a program that gives us these opportunities. I want to be a comedic actor. I might not have had any exposure to acting, without our performing arts programs.”

We look forward to having HSSD family and friends, alumni, and partners and guests from across Hot Springs join us for “Elf” December 12-14!
