On November 4-6, students in grades 3-6 will be taking ACT® Aspire® Interim Assessments at all HSSD elementary schools. Each day (Monday - Wednesday), your child will one test in one subject area- one day in Math, one day in Reading, and one day in Science. Each test will last under one hour. Students are not timed during Interims (they will be timed during ACT Summative tests in the spring). The valuable data we gain from these assessments allows us to make evidence-based decisions when addressing your child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and growth potential across classrooms and subjects.

We will take ACT Aspire Interim Tests again in February and then the ACT Aspire Summative Test in the Spring. Measuring academic growth is necessary to keep students on track for post-graduation and career readiness. With ACT Aspire, parents can determine whether children are meeting key benchmarks during the school year, so that necessary steps can be taken to keep him or her on track with academic growth. With data from ACT Aspire, our educators and leadership at the HSSD, and at the state level, can measure the effectiveness of state standards for teaching, curriculum requirements, teacher resources and training, and more.

- Get plenty of rest the night before the test.
-Follow directions exactly, and ask questions.
-Don’t spend too much time on any one question, but go back and review your answers when you have completed the test.
