The Hot Springs Public Schools Education Foundation (HSPSEF) was begun in 2017. With great partnership from the district and generous support from alumni across the central Arkansas area, they have made wonderful progress in identifying specific ways to enhance district initiatives. The group is focused on growing support for the Foundation, and spreading the word to all alumni and partners about how to get active in supporting the HSSD.
Through the first ever HSSD Enrichment Grants, the Foundation is directly supporting the initiatives of Hot Springs educators and helping to enhance the programs that students care about. The grant application period was open from May – August. The HSPSEF Foundation Board selected the following HSSD projects and programs as the first ever Enrichment Grant recipients, and awarded each with funds at the HSSD October Board Meeting last night:
Oaklawn Strings Program at Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School, which is receiving grants funds to repair to 6 Cellos
Hot Springs World Class High School Special Education Program, which is receiving grant funds for a Zoo Field Trip for students
Hot Springs World Class High School 9th Grade Science Classrooms, which is receiving funds for additional science classroom and curriculum supplies
Hot Springs School District Gifted & Talented Program, which is receiving funds for new books and curriculum for the enrichment of the K-6 Gifted & Talented Program
Park Magnet, an IB World School, Take Home Book Program, which is receiving funds for a new book program startup for 1st grade students
HSSD NJROTC Program, which is receiving funds for general facilities and equipment upgrades
HSSD Dance Studio, which is receiving funds for new ballet barres for dance students in grades 7 - 12
HSSD Thespian Troupe, which is receiving funds to support travel to the State Festival and Competition
Hot Springs Junior Academy JAG Program, which is receiving funds for new technology equipment to enhance JAG classroom offerings
Hot Springs World Class High School Health Student Campaign, which is receiving materials for students to use in improving health and wellness offerings
HSSD FCCLA, which is receiving funds to support travel to the FCCLA National Cluster Meeting and Competition
Trojan Art Club, which is receiving funds to support the hosting of the annual Spring Art Show and Showcase
