We have five wonderful anonymous shoutouts to include this week for our Trojan Good Things, from three schools … I am so proud of our wonderful staff, districtwide - it has been a truly world class, productive first full-week back! Thank you all. Keep it up.

From our Langston Elementary Leadership Academy - “I would like to give a shout out to Ms. Ellars and Ms. Campbell. They were tireless in their efforts to have everything ready to go on opening day for Langston students and teachers.” “This shout out goes to Eileen Ellars and Zondria Campbell for all their hard work and quick problem solving as staff, students, and parents get settled into our new Langston building. These two ladies are amazing.” “Mrs Ellars deserves a HUGE shout out for all the hard work she put in getting Langston ready. There were many items placed in the wrong classrooms and she helped to move boxes, furniture, and countless other things out of the classrooms. It was greatly appreciated.”

From our Hot Springs Junior Academy - “Students know what good teaching looks like, sounds like, and feels like. Good people with right hearts and student centered attitudes know how to make student-teacher ‘relationships,’ ‘partnerships.’  Paraprofessional Larry McDaniel has already made a marked and positive difference in the learning environment of his HSJA classroom by truly capturing his kids' hearts. Congratulations Mr. Mac!”

From our Gardner STEM Magnet School - “Dr. Nehus was visiting Gardner this morning and was in the hallway as I was about to wheel one of our students down to the office. He had a skateboarding accident this summer and is still using a wheelchair and walker around school. She asked if she could assist in any way and offered to push him down to the office. She listened to his stories about the accident and who knows what else he thought to talk about - as he is a talker. This was not anything she had to do, but getting involved with the student on such a personal level and being concerned about his issues shows that we are family in Hot Springs. This demonstrates a side of our Superintendent and leadership that needs to be promoted.”

Trojan Good Things is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! It is her goal to communicate all the positives happening in #HSSD. If you have any special events happening in your classes or buildings or if you know of someone we need to give a shout out to, please complete the form at
