This week has been Teacher Appreciation Week and School Nurse’s Day was on Wednesday - celebrations that don’t come close to the thanks and praise that our educators and nurses deserve for the huge impact that they make! All week, I’ve enjoyed seeing stories and kind words circulated about the memories that many share about their time in school. While many of us can’t recall all of our friends, or specific details about events - we can almost always name all or most of our teachers, and others involved with our K-12 school years. All of you remember - even though you may not be told directly, or see it for yourself - the work that you do within HSSD changes the lives of our students forever. You make a difference. You make an impact. You are changing the world, one student at a time. That’s what Teacher Appreciation Week and Nurse Appreciation Week/School Nurse Day are about - celebrating the hard, dedicated work that you put yourself through every day, and making sure that you know you truly are heroes for the jobs you do. Thank you so much for choosing to do that here at HSSD.

Also - I want to give a special shoutout to our HSSD Teachers of the Year! We are all so proud of you! Congrats to: Amy Bramlett Turner at HSWCHS; Karina Miller at HSJA; Otilia Peret at HSIS; Amy Ratcliff at Park Magnet; Cheryll Long at OVPA; Amy Parker at Langston; and Lori Saracini at Gardner STEM. Find a story celebrating each of them on our website.

Trojan ‘Good Things’ is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! It is her goal to communicate all the positives happening in #HSSD. If you have any special events happening in your classes or buildings or if you know of someone we need to give a shout out to, please complete the format
