As part of their Community Unit of Inquiry, three first grade classes received a presentation this week from Mr. Dudley Webb. Mr. Webb is running for the position of Hot Springs City Director (for Hot Springs District #4), and is also a 6th grade teacher at Hot Springs Intermediate School. He explained how the campaign process works, and described the importance of connecting with voters and building a campaign team.  He reminded students that many elected officials do not receive a salary or extra pay of any kind for holding public offices. Just like him, many have a day job that pays the bills and choose to serve the public in elected positions for no compensation. He stressed that elected officials are there to serve the public, and encouraged all students to get involved with community leaders and value their eventual right to vote.
