HOT SPRINGS – A group of six Hot Springs School District alumni were recognized by District Two Director Elaine Jones and Mayor Pat McCabe at the Hot Springs Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday for giving back to the community and the district by returning home after getting their educational degrees to serve as teachers within the district.

From left:  Olivia Hatley, graduate of Arkansas State University-Jonesboro; Ashley Coats, graduate of Henderson State University, Arkadelphia; Eric Lenox, graduate of Bacone College in Muskogee, OK and of Henderson State University; Director Jones; Maranda Geoffrion, graduate of University of Arkansas-Little Rock; Allison Woodfork Harper, graduate of Arkansas State University-Jonesboro; Olivia Green, graduate of Henderson State University, Arkadelphia; and Mayor McCabe.

The teachers were presented to the board by Hot Springs Human Resources Director Minnie Lenox, who concluded with a Denzel Washington quote: “At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”
