I want to commend our students and staff for a wonderful lineup of celebration, honoring our Hot Springs School District 2018 Homecoming Week! Amid a districtwide pep rally with more than 3,300 of us gathered at once at Joe Reese Stadium, excellent performances by our dancers, cheerleaders, and band, dedicated athletic talent this week from many including our volleyball and football players, and a memorable Homecoming Ceremony this afternoon at the HSWCHS - all students, staff, and community guests were supportive, generous, and all participatory among the chaos and excitement. We look forward to a great finale this evening during our Homecoming Crowning Ceremony and Football Game vs. Magnolia. Go Trojans!

Thank you to a special HSSD group (pictured) who attended a guest presentation by Flip Flippen, founder of Capturing Kids' Hearts. Capturing Kids Hearts is an initiative that our HSSD participates in districtwide that focuses on relationships, and trains staff to build relationships and processes that bring out the best in our students.

I also want to include a shout-out provided by HSSD staff for our Park Magnet students: “Park students competed in World Fest on Friday, 10/5/18, in Little Rock. Students who presented the countries of Canada and Bolivia won an honorable mention. This competition includes students through high school age. Congratulations to all of the Park students for being risk-takers in this endeavor!”

Trojan ‘Good Things’ is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to those individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! It is her goal to communicate all the positives happening in #HSSD. If you have any special events happening in your classes or buildings or if you know of someone we need to give a shout out to, please complete the form at
