I am proud to announce that Hot Springs School District is the recipient of two $3,000 Recycling Grants from the West Central Arkansas Planning & Development District.  Oaklawn Magnet School and Hot Springs World Class High School were presented with checks earlier this week. Each school provided a full recycling grant proposal to receive funds, and competed against schools in Clark, Garland, and Hot Spring Counties for selection. Thank you to Lorrie Duke, Adriana Forteinelli and Chrissy Bishop for your leadership in developing the grants. With the grants, new recycling bins are being purchased for both schools and a plan is in place to create greater engagement and support for recycling throughout the district and community from students, staff, parents, and partners.

Congrats to our Andre D. Dunson, 8th grader at HSJA, for receiving the first AYM Against All Odds Achievement Certificate and Stipend. The Against All Odds Achievement Certificate and Stipend is awarded each month to one male student at a junior high or middle school campus. Students are nominated by school officials for going above and beyond in leadership, academics, volunteerism, or all three. This award is sponsored by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Delta Kappa Kappa Chapter, which serves the communities of Hot Springs, Malvern, and Arkadelphia.

Great job to all of our HSSD students - including Isaac from HSJA - who were part of showcasing projects at the National Park College Innovative Technologies Center Makerspace Grand Opening today! Learn more about the new NPC ITC Makerspace - which includes a 3D printer, laser engravers, trainer drones, CAD software, and more, here.
