Thank you Trojan Family for giving all you’ve got! We are one week away from Thanksgiving Break, and I know this one has been long. For our Trojan Good Things, I’m thanking every single one of you for pushing through this challenging period of interims, as well as the holidays and festivities that make our kids hyper and oftentimes challenging (even though they’re having fun!). Thank you to every staff member; I know you’re going above and beyond, and I know many of us continue to work outside the usual responsibilities of our roles. I just couldn’t be more proud of you all.

Good luck to our Trojan Football Team, as they play in the 5A State Playoffs tonight in Nettleton! Good luck to our T-Steppers, as they participate tomorrow in the 5A State Dance Competition, at Lake Hamilton!

I want to celebrate Coach Lasker and his staff, our boys basketball team, and our Jabari West again, as we hosted a Signing Ceremony for him at Trojan Arena on Wednesday! He has signed his intent to attend George Washington University on scholarship to play basketball next school year. What an outstanding example he has set for our other students. Jabari has been a Trojan since his kindergarten year, and I know many of you have had the pleasure of teaching him or working with him as he has grown up. We are all so proud for him, and proud for our basketball team!

I also want to celebrate the Hot Springs Dance Troupe and Mrs. Bramlett-Turner. I had the pleasure of watching them in memorable performances at the Arkansas Learning Through the Arts Gala, hosted at the Hot Springs Country Club, earlier this week! I wasn’t the only one impressed; leaders and partners from across the Hot Springs community AND Arkansas First Lady Susan Hutchinson were also in the audience and had the highest accolades for our talented dancers throughout the evening. Our Moriah Thacker, Jariah Selman, Serenity Cupples and Mrs. Bramlett Turner all performed.

I also have two great shoutouts from staff to share for our Mina Perez at the District Office, and our Mr. Eric Lenox at Langston Elementary Leadership Academy.

For Mrs. Perez: “I would like to shout out Mina Perez! Every five years she helps me and probably most in our district renew our licenses. She sends very clear instructions, pulls together data for the state that we don’t have to do ourselves, and then she schedules us for our fingerprinting and final steps.  She makes things very easy for us and it means a lot.  I know that my colleagues and I truly appreciate her service, we probably just don’t tell her enough!”

For Mr. Lenox - “I wanted to give a shout out to Mr Lenox. My daughter has been very sick the last few months and has been in the hospital on two separate occasions. I haven’t really shared much information except with my family, close friends and work partners. Mr Lenox approached me and asked if he could have a gentleman who was helping unload cars and was a preacher to pray for me. It was such a kind gesture for him to think of me during this tough time in my life. It really touched me and reaffirmed that I work for the best school district in the state and that Langston has some wonderful leaders. Thank you for placing Mr Lenox at Langston, we are very blessed.”
