As we kick off December, I want to do a shout out for the spirit of service that is so prevalent across our district. You all are a model for kindness and compassion to our students, and through the year-round service projects that you undertake - especially during the holidays - we are giving them experiences of servanthood that they will never forget. It makes me so proud to be part of a Trojan Family that truly does serve and graciously give back to the Hot Springs community. I highlight below a few of the many wonderful projects going on right now by our various clubs and programs:

-Today, the Gardner Jr. Beta Club delivered a large collection of donated toys to the Festival of Lights Toy and Donation Drive at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Those toys will benefit sick children throughout the holidays from across the state;
-Our Welcome Center is busy helping to coordinate donations for multiple Angel Tree efforts across the county, and has free clothing and food pantry items for families across the community;
-Our Hot Springs Junior Academy is accepting donations for the Ouachita Children’s Center through December 13 (including toiletries, books and board games, towels and sheets, etc.);
- Our Hot Springs World Class High School is accepting donations for the Care Closet (located at HSWCHS), which makes clothing and toiletry items available to any students at no charge;
- Our Oaklawn Jr. Beta club students are collecting baby books for donation to CHI Labor & Delivery department to be given to newborn babies. Students are creating community literacy rate information and other data to support the importance of reading to children. This information will be given on a bookmark inside every book;

-Park Magnet has partnered with the Garland County Library for a community Sweater Drive, asking for gently used sweaters to be placed in the box located in the foyer.

Trojan Good Things is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! The goal of Trojan Good Things is to communicate all the positives happening in #HSSD.
