This week’s shout out goes to our HSWCHS students and staff, following the flying of a United States flag over our United States Capitol in their honor at the request of Congressman Bruce Westerman. In a proclamation presented to Principal Echols, the plaque states, “This flag was flown at the request of the Honorable Bruce Westerman, Member of Congress, honoring the students and staff at Hot Springs World Class High School in their quest to raise their achievement and impact their community, WHATEVER IT TAKES.” When Arkansas’s highest leaders recognize the outstanding work taking place at this district, I hope it makes you all realize what a huge impact you are making every single day. What an honor for HSSD, and what a deserving and true tribute to the achievement of our HSWCHS students and staff.

I also want to congratulate all of you as a Hot Springs School District community, as we have been nominated for Large Business of the Year by the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce. I will be working with staff in the coming weeks to complete our application as a finalist, and provide explanation to the many ways that we go above and beyond to serve our students and this community with a world class educational experience. The winner will be announced at the annual Hot Springs Chamber Awards Banquet on January 17.

Trojan ‘Good Things’ is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to those individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! It is her goal to communicate all the positives happening in #HSSD. If you have any special events happening in your classes or buildings or if you know of someone we need to give a shout out to, please complete the form at
