I am dedicating this Halloween Eve shoutout to our athletes and band members, all of whom have wrapped up an outstanding season under conditions and challenges that they have never competed under before. CONGRATS to our Trojan Volleyball Team, Tennis Teams, and Marching Band! Our Trojan Volleyball Team qualified to compete in the State Tournament this week, and we couldn’t be more proud of their outstanding season that got them there! Congratulations, ladies! Our tennis players also wrapped up their season earlier this month with an outstanding record, and our Ella Pace finished second in the district tournament and competed in the first round of the State Tournament; we congratulate all of our tennis athletes on a great season. Our Trojan Marching Band also competed in a regional marching competition this month, alongside schools from across the area. We were thrilled that this competition was even possible, and we are so proud to see our students participating - with safety protocols in place - and making us proud! Everyone have a Happy and SAFE Halloween weekend. I appreciate all that you do.

I would also like to share this shoutout from one of our staff members to an outstanding community partner and supporter of our HSSD - the Hot Springs Police Department: “Yesterday morning, October 29th, I had a student show up late to class with the biggest smile I have ever seen on his face. You could see his joy even through the mask he was wearing. When I asked why he was late, he responded with this story: ‘I missed my bus this morning so I was going to ride my bike to school. I got lost and was a little nervous but then I saw a cop car. I rode over to him and asked him where the school was. He called another cop and that cop drove me to school in his cop car! I got to ride in a cop car to school this morning!’ I want to shout out our Hot Springs Police Department for giving this boy a reason to trust the police officers and a reason to share his good thing, and his smile, the entire day.”

Trojan ‘Good Things’ is a weekly shout out from #HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus to individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things! It is her goal to communicate all the positives happening in #HSSD. If you have any special events happening in your classes or buildings or if you know of someone we need to give a shout out to, please complete the Trojan Good Things Form, here.
