For the fourth year, Park Magnet first grade classes enjoyed a “Fancy Friday” event hosted by generous community partners at Special Touch Catering. Debbie Talley and her wonderful crew provided tasty snacks, festive decor, and a memorable lesson in manners at their special event facility across the street from Park. The event is held is in conjunction with the first grade unit on writing, food celebration, and manners.

First grade Park teachers developed the idea based on the “Fancy Nancy” book and television series, which is the story of a young girl with a larger than life personality who adores all things Fancy. Students and staff dress up for the occasion in colorful attire including hats, bows, feather scarves, and more. They sit at large, round tables, and are treated to food items in formally arranged dishes and by professional staff members.  The Special Touch Catering team does not charge the HSSD for use of the facility or the delicious food. We deeply appreciate community partners and unique opportunities like these to create memorable cultural experiences for our students! Find a full photo album of the event, here.
