The Garland County Master Gardeners worked with 4th-5th grade students at our Langston Elementary Leadership Academy to complete the planting of a flower bed surrounding the Langston Memorial at the entrance to the new campus. Master Gardeners arranged the original Langston Memorial site on Chestnut Street, and generously partnered with students to create a new and larger landscaped area on Silver Street following construction of our new building. Blue and gold flowers were planted to honor the Langston BullDogs - the mascot of the first Langstonians, before Langston became part of the Hot Springs School District Trojan family.

The efforts of the Garland County Master Gardeners are deeply appreciated by the HSSD for work at all six of our school campuses and across the Hot Springs community. The Langston memorial is an important landmark commemorating the cultural and historic significance of Langston to the Garland County area.
