The Hot Springs School District (HSSD) is a district committed to families, which includes our students and our parents. Our staff works to build a culture that fosters a lifelong commitment to learning and growing in our students - which is enhanced when we encourage that commitment in parents as well. In 2019, a free class series - Getting Ahead - will be available to all HSSD parents, and is designed for adults hoping to begin a new chapter after being plagued with barriers, faded opportunities, various setbacks, or tragedies of any kind, or those simply looking for self improvement and the ability to provide added stability to his/her family.

The Getting Ahead series leads participants step-by-step through a unique process of personal discovery, and in depth study of resources, strategies and practices, and community opportunities that can lead to improved quality of life for families. Participants work to identify goals that lead to more sustainable practices that might include better jobs, improved financial security, continued training or education, and more mindful decision making for the long-term. Class participants are the experts of their own lives, the course is simply providing dialogue, discussion, and a workbook to help navigate methods for self improvement.

This is the first time that the Getting Ahead series will be offered in Garland County by a school district.  The HSSD is honored to be the host site for a program that can directly serve the needs of our wonderful parents who work hard to raise the students we have the honor of working with each day.
