Please allow us to provide you with a quick Covid-19 update:

> Covid-19 Data: The total number of positive cases of Covid-19 broke records in Arkansas today. The Omicron variant is causing a surge across the U.S., across Arkansas, and our HSSD. We identified a total of 42 student cases today, and we have 17 staff members who are positive. We post that data for you (updated daily) on our website, here. We have been through a Covid-surge before, and we will make it through this one, too.  We are following all protocols, taking every precaution, and using every tool that we have to keep our students and staff members as healthy and safe as possible.

>Protocols - Please Help us to Explain: Please make sure your students know the importance of staying home when they are sick and/or communicating to someone when they are sick. When kids are sick, we need them to stay home. If a student feels sick at school, they need to see a Nurse. If students are awaiting Covid-19 test results, they cannot be at school. Rapid tests are available at all of our schools and (with your consent) we can provide rapid Covid-19 tests to students at anytime. Please also talk to your kids about wearing masks. Unfortunately, we are back under a mask mandate (through Jan 14), and it is imperative to keep masks on consistently (while indoors and when social distancing is not possible) through this surge in cases. We appreciate your support in this!

>Quarantine Periods and Guidance from Arkansas Department of Health/CDC: We anticipate receiving updated guidance from the ADH later this week or early next week regarding shortened quarantine periods (reduced down to 5 days). For now, ADH has not approved schools to use this recommendation, even though it is being recommended by the CDC and local medical professionals. As soon as we have updated guidance, we will thread that into our plans and we will share that with you. For now, if your student tests positive for Covid-19 - he/she completes a full 10-day quarantine. If your student is a Probable Close Contact, he/she can participate in a Test-to-Stay Program at school, or completes a 7 day quarantine and must test to return, or completes a 10-day quarantine. Vaccinated individuals only quarantine if they test positive. Thank you for your patience and support as we await guidance from ADH. Please remember, our Covid-19 quarantine protocols are determined and required by ADH.

>Thank you Trojan Families! Thank you to all of our families for the opportunity to serve your children. Do not feel alone in being anxious and concerned about this surge in cases. We are concerned, too. We are following every safety measure possible to keep students and staff as healthy as possible. We are working with all state and local officials to monitor pandemic data and implement all measures and policies necessary to keep kids at school, and provide for safety. We will host another Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic (with vaccines and boosters) in coordination with CHI ST. Vincent (info forthcoming) on January 14. We have rapid tests available at all schools.

We are deeply dedicated to doing whatever it takes to ensure academic growth, the building of skills, hands-on opportunities, strong relationships, FUN, and in general - the very best educational experience possible for all Trojan students - even during a pandemic. We love your kids, and we love what we do. We will share info and updates with you regarding Covid-19 and all topics as we have it available.
