We are thrilled to continue growth and progress within the Hot Springs School District! Starting in August of 2020, the HSSD will consist of the following six campuses (two of which will be considered super campuses):  Langston Elementary Leadership Academy (300 Silver Street); Oaklawn STEM Magnet School (301 Oaklawn Boulevard); Park Magnet, an IB World School (617 Main Street); Main Street Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School (701 Main Street); the new Hot Springs Junior Academy, and newly added Trojan Arena and Auditorium (400 Emory Street); and our Hot Springs World Class High School, Joe Reese Stadium, Baseball/Softball Complex, and newly added Indoor Practice Arena (701 Emory Street). Park Magnet, an IB World School and our Main Street Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School  will be side-by-side on Main Street and become an elementary super campus. The new Hot Springs Junior Academy and Hot Springs World Class High School, and all surrounding auditoriums and arenas, will also be side-by-side and become a secondary super campus.

HSJA/HSWCHS Super Campus
With the opening of our super campus on Emory Street in August of 2020, we will have facilities to hold all 7th-12th grade students in one area. The newest, state-of-the-art 7th-9th grade building will adjoin a new auditorium and multipurpose arena - and will be called the "Hot Springs Junior Academy." 10th-12th grade students will remain in our current Hot Springs World Class High School building. With that shift for our secondary students, there are also positive changes coming for our elementary schools.

The students who attend Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School on Oaklawn Boulevard will move to the current Hot Springs Junior Academy Building on Main Street (next to Park Magnet, an IB World School). When OVPA students move to the building on Main Street, the building will undergo a name change because it cannot keep “Oaklawn” in the title any longer. The name “Oaklawn” will remain with the building on Oaklawn Boulevard. (*See discussion below about the change to "Oaklawn STEM Magnet School," in the Gardner section directly below). A staff and community survey was distributed by the Hot Springs School District to take suggestions for a new name for the facility on Main Street. The new name will be "Main Street Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School." MSVPA will continue to be an elementary school for Pre-K-6th grade students.

The current Gardner STEM Magnet School students on Hammond Drive will move to the building on Oaklawn Boulevard. When that move takes place, the school on Oaklawn Boulevard will change its name to "Oaklawn STEM Magnet School." The building on Oaklawn Boulevard will remain a magnet elementary school for Pre-K - 6th grade students. The school building on Hammond Drive will transition into a consortium space housing alternative learning education opportunities and potentially career and technical education opportunities, a plan which is still in the works.

2020 Vision
The various changes taking place across our elementary schools allow for the space necessary to accommodate Pre-K - 6th grade students at all magnet elementary school campuses. Students at the HSSD will now only move between two campuses during their tenure, one during the Pre-K - 6th grade, and another during the 7th-12th grade.

We appreciate the support and patience from our families and community as we make these transitions. We are excited about the growth this will allow for, as our student enrollment continues to grow. We are also honored to continue offering the only elementary magnet school experience in Garland County, which creates the opportunity for students and families to choose an elementary school with electives tailored to each student’s interests and abilities. Finally, we are eager to implement new course offerings, and utilize the new and expanded space available at our Hot Springs Junior Academy and Hot Springs World Class High School super campus. The super campus expansion will allow us to continue strengthening our Career Academies model, our dedication to providing an array of athletic activities, arts and drama opportunities, clubs and programs, on-the-job training and internships, and our International Baccalaureate Programmes.
