CenterPoint Energy Provides Rebate to HSSD for Energy Savings Efforts

HSSD is excited to  receive a rebate from CenterPoint Energy in the amount of $32,300 for energy saving and environmentally friendly steps taken in the selection and installation of equipment at the new Hot Springs Junior Academy and Trojan Arena complex.  The rebate is a result of the installation of forty-four high-efficiency 95% natural gas furnaces, seven tankless water heaters and four ENERGY STAR convection ovens.  In addition to the rebate incentives, HSSD is expected to save 5,998 therms of natural gas annually. This results in estimated yearly cost savings of $3,899 and a life-time savings of $74,355.

In 2020, the Hot Springs School District completed construction of a new Hot Springs Junior Academy complex to serve students in grades 7-9. The building opened in the 2020-2021 school year.  HSSD collaborated with French Architects, CenterPoint Energy, Middleton Heat & Air, JP Jarrell Plumbing Co. and Supreme Fixture to take advantage of the energy efficiency rebate programs offered by CenterPoint Energy.

“It’s a definite win for us when we can complete state-of-the-art facilities that are environmentally-friendly, and built in a way that are as cost effective as possible. Thank you to CenterPoint Energy and all partners who have helped us plan infrastructure and implement procedures that will continue serving our students and our Hot Springs community with the highest quality of excellence and energy efficiency for years to come,” says HSSD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Nehus.
