HSSD Wellness Reminders

Posted Date: 11/17/2022

Trojan Families, please read below for important reminders about best practices for sick season. Our School Nurses and Clinics across Garland County have reported higher-than-usual confirmed cases of the Flu, Pneumonia, Strep-Throat, RSV, upper respiratory infections in general, and positive cases of Covid-19, in the last two weeks. Let's all take precautions and do our best to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.

> Students must be fever-free for a full 24-hour period before they can return back to school. This requirement is per the HSSD School Sick Policy, and helps to ensure that students do not return to school when they might be contagious to others.

> Make sure to wash your hands as often as possible, disinfect high-touch surfaces at least twice per day, and cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.

> When you're sick, please just stay home. Keep individuals home, and away from group settings or family gatherings, when they experience symptoms of illness, especially fever.

> If an individual tests positive for Covid-19, he/she should quarantine for a 5-day period from the onset of symptoms or positive test date.

> At your homes - open windows to let in fresh air, make sure everyone is thoroughly bathed every night, make sure everyone gets plenty of good sleep, change sheets and wash linens often, and consider keeping everyone on a multi-vitamin of some kind.
