The International Baccalaureate The International Baccalaureate is a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum for highly motivated students. The IB program begins the preparation of students for the most competitive colleges, universities, and careers. It focuses on the interrelatedness of the subject matter and encourages students to “make connections.” To stimulate the curiosity and the intelligence of students and teach them to connect school subjects with the outside world. The IB Program is based upon the five common themes that are embedded within the program and are visible across academic subjects: The specific themes within the curriculum model are: l) The Approaches to learning, which focuses on study skills and the learning process, 2) Community service, which emphasizes activities inside and outside of school, 3) Health and social education, which focuses on mental and physical health, 4) Environment, which focuses on interdependence of people and nature, 5) Homo Faber, which is the creative genius of people and its impact on society and on the human mind. These areas are essential to the program and are integrated as much as possible into the different subjects. |
