October 3, 2002 -  Eighth grade students in Ms. Benton’s Technology Class will have an opportunity to get their hands on some brand new equipment that was recently added to her computer lab. A digital video editing workstation is being set up that will include two new iMac computers with software that includes iMovie 2, iDVD 2, iPhoto and iTunes 2. This software will be used to create non-linear videos, which will then be burned to DVD format. Eighth grade students will create a digital video presenting the masterwork that MST is producing this year. Other additions to the station include an external firewire drive, a digital video camera and five new digital cameras. The digital cameras will be available for students to check out and use for various assignments in Ms. Benton’s class. In addition to the masterwork video being created exclusively by MST students, a new cross-academy digital video club has been created and sponsored by Ms. Benton and Ms. Richardson (A&E tech teacher). This twelve member club will work on producing the school’s first digital yearbook, which will be available at the end of year. If this project is as successful as we suspect it will be, additional equipment will be added next year if funds are available.
