Art I -- Foundations in Art 450000

This class is an introduction to the Visual Arts. The class will explore Art History from its origins (Prehistoric) to the early Renaissance. We will also cover the basic principles & elements of design, artistic processes and mediums with hands-on projects, class discussion, and keeping daily journals. Students will also work on a collaborative project and go through the process of design to build to final show with an Art Opening in the Spring.

Art II -- Exploratory Studio 550010
Levels: 10-12
This class will continue with its sutdy of Art History from the High Renaissance to the Advent of Photography (up to Impressionism). We will also explore more thoroughly the techniques of Life/figurative drawing, Still Life, and Landscape Painting. Student's own style will begin to develop. Collaborative projects like murals or mosaics will also be explored. Studies into how Art reflects history and how art can convey emotion.

Art III -- AP Studio 450020
Levels: 11, 12
This class will continue with the study of Art Hisotry from Post Impressionists to the early 1970s. We will also exlore what medium best suits the individual student (I.E.- sculpture, mixed media, painting, photography, film, etc), and how to better record the artistic process. Collaborative projects that address Art in the community. Porftolio development.
Prerequisite: Art I, Art II, Teacher Recommendation.
Art IV -- AP Studio 450021
Level: 12
This is the final class for Art students at the High School level. The student will explore studio management, maintenance, and time management to create a productive artist's environment. The student will create a series of work that embodies his or her personal style. There will also be required collaborative work & community oriented (public art) proposals. Each student will hang and do press releases for their own individual show. Required portfolio, artist, statement, artist resume. Student will also understand process of applying to College art programs.

Computer Graphic Design 559802
Levels: 9-12
A one semester course designed to introduce students to the tools and concepts of graphic design. Students will create a series of authentic design solutions using up to date software and equipment. Students will develop a working understanding of computer design software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. Practical and ethical concerns regarding internet use, copyright law, and website evaluation will also be covered in this course.
Over the course of the semester, students will work in a simulated professional environment creating products, including personal/ professional logos, CD cover package designs, and multi-fold brochures. Students will also explore their personal creative potential in writing and illustrating poetry, digitally manipulating photographs, and digitally creating a self-portrait.

Digital Imagery 559803

Digital imagery is a year long advanced high school course focused on training and explorative learning in technology and the visual arts. Digital imagery builds on a foundation of studio art and computer graphic design, which are prerequisites for this course. Students explore their creative nature through a variety of media and learning styles, culminating in a final portfolio at the end of the year. Students work individually and in teams to create artworks in a variety of media, such as: computer based graphic design and layout, digital photography, digital animation, digital web page design, and digital video production and video editing. Digital imagery students will also foster an increased sense of design sensibility and critical problem solving skills through class critiques and reflective writing and journal entries. Students will initiate self-directed learning in the classroom in pursuit of knowledge related to the professional fields associated with commercial art and design, and studio production. Additionally, topics dealing with ethics and computing, intellectual property rights law, and website evaluation will be covered in this course.
