Second - Fifth Grade Lesson Plans

Continuing Individual Web Page/Site Construction

Notes: I will be checking assignments this week.  Students who have completed the web page homework and have typed their information into the Word FORM document will have free time to visit a couple of web sites (Learning.com  OR  funbrain.com) or any of the links from my web links web page.

Materials:

·       Gardner Network Folders

·       Microsoft Word

·        Web Page Form Template

o       Second Grade Web Info. Worksheet Form

o       Grades 3-5 Body Paragraphs Form

·        Internet Explorer

 Activities:

1)    Students will begin by checking their work area.

2)    Students will navigate the network to the "Web Page Form" for second grade and to the " Body Paragraph Form" for third – fifth grade to continue working on their web site pages.  (These are saved in their individual “Web Page” and “grade level” folder on the network from last session.  They will be continuing their work this week.)

3)    Once the students have completed working on the form for today, they will save their changes as exiting from the program.

4)  Students who have completed their work will have time to visit Learning.com  OR  funbrain.com  OR use sites linked from my “Web Links” page.

 

 Steps:

Students will be working in Microsoft Word to complete the form with information for their personal web page/site assignment.

 Students will:

1.     Click on "Start"
2.     Go to "My Computer"
3.     Select "Data on 'gardner' (F:)"
4.     Select "00-gardner classes:
5.     Select "00 - Student Projects"
6.     Select (their grade level's folder)
7.       Select (their teacher’s folder)
8.  Select (their folder)
9.  Select the “Web Page” folder
10. Select (their grade level)
11. Click on the file "Web Page FORM"  or “Body Paragraph FORM”
12. Students will work on their forms until class time is up or they have completed their work
13. Students will click on the “RED X” in the top right corner of the screen to exit
14. Students will need to click “Yes” to save their work from today
          (The file will automatically update the information saved in their personal web page
          folder on the server.)
15. Students who complete their work before time is up will open Internet Explorer and visit one of the approved web sites.

Prior to completion of Grade 2, students will:

  1. Use input devices (e.g., mouse, keyboard, remote control) and output devices (e.g., monitor, printer) to successfully operate computers, VCRs, audiotapes, and other technologies. (1)
  2. Use a variety of media and technology resources for directed and independent learning activities. (1, 3)
  3. Communicate about technology using developmentally appropriate and accurate terminology. (1)
  4. Use developmentally appropriate multimedia resources (e.g., interactive books, educational software, elementary multimedia encyclopedias) to support learning. (1)
  5. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with peers, family members, and others when using technology in the classroom. (2)

3.      Discuss basic issues related to responsible use of technology and information and describe personal consequences of inappropriate use. (2)

4.      Use general purpose productivity tools and peripherals to support personal productivity, remediate skill deficits, and facilitate learning throughout the curriculum. (3)

5.      Use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, Web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. (3, 4)

9.      Determine when technology is useful and select the appropriate tool(s) and technology resources to address a variety of tasks and problems. (5, 6)
