Continuing Web Page/Site Designs:

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Lesson Plans:

Students in grades 3-5 will work on their web site files from the Gardner Network.  They will go step-by-step through the process of locating their file on the network, open, edit, and save the files in their own personal folder on the network.  The files we will be working on are their personal web site pages using Microsoft Publisher.  Student this week will be adding the information the completed on their “Web Page Worksheet” for personal pages – Index, Personal, Family, School, and Hobbies.
Students will:

1.     Click on "Start"

2.     Go to "My Computer"

3.     Select "Data on 'gardner' (F:)"

4.     Select "00-gardner classes:

5.     Select "00 - Student Projects"

6.     Select (their grade level's folder)

7.     Click on their teacher’s folder

8.     Click on their personal folder

9.     Click on the folder “Web Page”

10. Click on their grade level

11. Click on their publisher document

12. Press “Enter” to open the file for editing today

Next, the students will work on entering the information from their "Web Page Information Worksheet” that they completed in class earlier.

The students will work on typing their personal information from their worksheet and/or notes to their web site project in Publisher.  We will work from the Index page to add their Personal, Family, School, and Hobbies information.

At the end of class the students will simply need to click on the "X" to exit out of the program.  They will need to click “yes” to save changes.  The file will automatically update the information saved in their personal web page folder on the server.

Performance Indicators

 A major component of the NETS Project is the development of a general set of profiles describing technology-literate students at key developmental points in their pre-college education. These profiles reflect the underlying assumption that all students should have the opportunity to develop technology skills that support learning, personal productivity, decision making, and daily life. These profiles and associated standards provide a framework for preparing students to be lifelong learners who make informed decisions about the role of technology in their lives.

Prior to completion of Grade 5, students will:

1.   Use input devices (e.g., mouse, keyboard, remote control) and output devices (e.g., monitor, printer) to successfully operate computers, VCRs, audiotapes, and other technologies. (1)

2.   Use a variety of media and technology resources for directed and independent learning activities. (1, 3)

3.   Communicate about technology using developmentally appropriate and accurate terminology. (1)

4.   Use developmentally appropriate multimedia resources (e.g., interactive books, educational software, elementary multimedia encyclopedias) to support learning. (1)

5.     Use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, Web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. (3, 4)

7.   Practice responsible use of technology systems and software. (2)
