Electronic Portfolios

Materials:

·        Gardner Network Folders

·        Microsoft PowerPoint

·       Portfolio Template (Personalize the K-2 Template Saved found in each grade level's folder on the network)

Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade ~       

The students will locate and open their electronic portfolio located on the network.  Below are the steps they should follow in opening the template.

Click Start
Choose “My Computer”
Choose “Data on ‘gardner’ (F:)”
Choose “00 gardner classes”
Choose “00 Student Projects”
Select “their grade level”
Select "their teacher's folder"
Select "their name"
Select the folder "My Portfolio"
Select "My 'current grade level' Portfolio 2006-2007"
Open the Portfolio (PowerPoint Presentation)

Students will continue working to personalize their portfolio.  They will also work on adding a recorded reading file (each student will read a 90 second passage from a book of their choice to showcase their reading ability).  They will also add the section for “What they look forward to next year… or what it will be like for them next year as a ___ grader”.  Once they have completed the editing for the session, they will need to save their work:

Click "Yes"

Click on the “red X” to exit out of the network folder window to return to the original screen

Prior to completion of Grade K-2, students will:

  2. Use a variety of media and technology resources for directed and independent learning activities. (1, 3)
  3. Communicate about technology using developmentally appropriate and accurate terminology. (1)
  4. Use developmentally appropriate multimedia resources (e.g., interactive books, educational software, elementary multimedia encyclopedias) to support learning. (1)
