Webmaster - Lesson Three
Overview of the lesson:
In this lesson, students plan and organize the contents of their web page.
Students will also begin to make their web site. They will start with
the creation of the Welcome Page. it includes an eye-catching title,
description about the site, and they hyperlinks to the other pages within
the site. Afterwards, the topic pages are produces, with each
containing a title and a link back to the Welcome Page.
Learning Objectives: Students will be able to –

Open the file welcome from the Fun Web Links
folder.

Preview the document as a web page by displaying it in
the Microsoft internet Explorer browser.

Examine the characteristics of the Fun Web Links
web site.

Discuss the layout and design of the site and suggest
improvements.

Plan content of their own web site including topic
areas.

Research topic area, bookmarking related sites in a
folder.

Record information for their web site on the Web
Organizer handout.

Add page links to improve ease of navigation

Align test to the center of the page

Apply a background using fill effects

Click a hyperlink to connect to another document

Create a welcome page that includes a title,
description, and category names

Open "TechnoKids" - "Juniors" - "TechnoNet" -
"Resources" - "Session 3" - "Teacher Resources" - "Fun Web Links" -
"Welcome"

View the "Welcome" site and explore its links,
discussing the layout and design of the site and suggest improvements.
NOTE - the welcome page has a site title, description of the site, and links
to web pages within the site. ~ Their main page will need to have
links to 1) family, 2) school, 3)interests, and 4)favorite web sites and
include title hyperlink and description of the page in their web site it
will take them to when clicked.
NOTE - the linked pages include a title, brief description, information, and
if web sites are included, a graphic, title, address, description of where
you will go by clicking on the links.
NOTE - each page in the site MUST have a link back to the homepage.
NOTE - keep in mind the 1)Ease of Navigation, 2)Appearance, and 3)Quality of
Content.

Start thinking about and planning the content of your
own web site with topic areas.

Research topic areas, bookmarking related sites in a
folder and record the information on your Web Organizer handout.
NOTE - to create a bookmark, follow these steps:
1) Once the Internet is open, click on "Favorites"
2) Click on "Organize"
3) Click on "Create Folder"
4) Name the folder "First Name Last Name"
5) Click "Close"
6) Students will then add favorites when they find a site they wish to
include and place it in their folder on the Favorites List.
