Kindergarten, First and Second Grade Lesson Plans:

Electronic Portfolios

Materials:

·        Gardner Network Folders

·        Microsoft PowerPoint

·       Portfolio Template (K-2 Personalized Template Saved in individualized folders from earlier this year)

Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade ~       

The students will locate and open their portfolio on the network.  This will be a quiz for their ability to locate, open, and show their portfolio.  Below are the steps they should follow if anyone should need assistance.

Click Start
Choose “My Computer”
Choose “Data on ‘gardner’ (F:)”
Choose “00 gardner classes”
Choose “00 Student Projects”
Select “their grade level”
Choose Their Teacher's name
Select Their Name
Choose "My Portfolio"
Open Their Portfolio (PowerPoint Presentation)

Students will complete their portfolio.  They will work on adding a recorded reading file (each student will read a 90 second passage from a book of their choice to showcase their reading ablilty).  They will also add the section for “What they look forward to next year… or what it will be like for them next year as a ___ grader”.  Once they have completed the editing for the session, they will need to save their work:

Click on the “red X” in the top right corner of the screen
Click “Yes” to save the changes
Click on the “red X” to exit out of the network folder window to return to the original screen

The remaining time can be used as free time to explore software on the lab computer or a web site from the set educational links.

Prior to completion of Grade K-2, students will:

  2. Use a variety of media and technology resources for directed and independent learning activities. (1, 3)
  3. Communicate about technology using developmentally appropriate and accurate terminology. (1)
  4. Use developmentally appropriate multimedia resources (e.g., interactive books, educational software, elementary multimedia encyclopedias) to support learning. (1)
