Curriculum Samples

Description of the Lesson:  The students will be working with a program called Microsoft Front Page this week.  They will be working with pre-designed templates to create their own personal web page.  The web page will be linked to their classroom teachers "Student Page."

    Once the students have completed their web page, they will have time to explore and enjoy educational games found within the web site Gamequarium.com.  This site has a wide variety of educational games from varied curricular areas.  They will get to the web site by clicking below:

They will visit this site and practice with:  ABC, 123, Colors, Shapes, Time, or Money.  These activities are set up for Pre-K through grades 2.

 

The web pages they create will be edited and then linked from their classroom web page.

* If their parents have signed and returned the proper permission slip.

**New permission slips will be sent home with students still needing one on in the technology lab.

Kindergarten Enrichment:  Students will work with the Kidspiration Program to complete a science activity titled, "What Lives Here."  They will use the activity template and place pictures that represent what you might find living in the four sample locations.  The locations include the desert, forest, wetland, and farm.

First Grade Enrichment:  Students will work with the Kid Pix Deluxe 3 Program to create a picture of their choice today.

Second  - Enrichment:  The students will be working with Typing Master to practice their touch typing skills.  Once the typing lessons are completed, the students will have time to explore the Kid Pix Deluxe 3 Program and practice with the slide show option.

Third - Fourth Grade Enrichment:  The students will be working on their electronic portfolio projects.  They will work on the title, main menu page, bio page, and main projects page of their portfolio.  We will also look at scanning documents to a disk for adding to their portfolios.

We will begin talking about the title slide to the portfolio.  Here is a sample:

Next we will look at and discuss the Main Menu slide.  Here is a sample:

Fifth Grade Enrichment:  The students will be sharing their PowerPoint Presentation for the topic of their report with the class.  (The work will vary by student and topic selected.)

News Crew Staff Meeting:  They will discuss the news program performances from last week.

Newspaper Staff Meeting: 

Students will be discussing the assignments they have completed.

  • Students will discuss ideas for a feature story on people, places, foods, and miscellaneous articles.

  • Students will discuss how a newspaper assigns sports reporters to a "beat."

  • Students will use a sample entertainment section from the newspaper to answer discussion questions.

Students will turn in their assignments!

(There will be an on-line quiz next week for the students relating to the topics and terms we have discussed in the news paper staff meetings.)

  Yearbook Staff Meeting:  The staff will meet this week to look at and discuss distribution of the yearbooks and the yearbook signing parties.
