My job title, this year, is Literacy Intervention Teacher.
I work with Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade students. My focus with these grade levels is Reading, as well as, Writing. My Reading emphasis focuses on Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Fluency. Writing includes constructing a coherent paragraph that includes a topic sentence, three detail sentences, and a conclusion.
The instruction given to the students is Differential Instruction, in a small group setting. This instruction addresses students' individual reading and writing needs, building upon their strengths.
The classroom teachers and I work in concert, to provide an environment for success. Meeting the Hot Springs District curriculum requirements is our goal.
During the year, I test students new to our district, enrolling in our Kindergarten through Second Grade classes.
