IN
CASE OF BAD WEATHER

Do you know how to find out if school is canceled?
You can:
Listen to U. S. 97 radio station.
Watch channel 4, 7, or 11 out of Little Rock.
Wait for your phone to ring.
The Hot Springs School District has purchased a software program that will call ALL GARDNER FAMILIES when a decision has been made about canceling school. IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER UP-TO-DATE IN OUR RECORDS? Call Ms. Betty or Ms. Nancy at 620-7822 with your update.
SNOW ROUTES ADOPTED!
The snow routes will be used ONLY WHEN ROAD CONDITIONS ARE SUCH THAT REGULAR BUS ROUTES WOULD BE IMPASSABLE OR UNSAFE OR WHEN BAD WEATHER BEGINS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.
Parents and students must pay
close attention to the difference between
a delayed day running regular routes OR snow routes.

GRADUATION GUIDES YOUR FUTURE!
Kindergarten graduation, then high school graduation, then...COLLEGE GRADUATION. That’s Gardner’s goal for EVERY STUDENT. We want our students to visualize graduation someday and we have launched an early college awareness campaign in our school district. Our new tradition is to wear college t-shirts on the LAST MONDAY of each
month. |

New Attendance Laws Act 1223 of 2011 by the Arkansas State Legislature has made the following changes of note on attendance laws in Arkansas: "Excused" and "Unexcused" absences are no longer considered in determining whether a student has had "excessive absences." If necessary, BEFORE a student reaches the maximum number of allowed absences, the parent/guardian may petition the school administration for special arrangements to address the student’s absences. If special arrangements are made, they are to be put in writing and signed by the school administrator, the parent, and the student. HSSD students shall not be absent more than twelve (12) days in a semester.

Gardner EAST What is EAST?The EAST model of education features student-driven service projects accomplished with the latest in technology. EAST classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art workstations, servers, software, and accessories, including GPS/GIS mapping tools, architectural and CAD design software, 3D animation suites, and much more. Students find problems in their local communities, and then use these tools to solve them. EAST’s focus, however, is not on technology itself, but on the unique learning environment of the EAST classroom. In EAST, students are responsible for creating their own lesson plans. There are no lectures and no tests; instead, the students are guided by an EAST facilitator (a teacher trained in the EAST process). This radically different approach to learning yields tremendous results. Students are better-prepared for their future, and they care more about learning and serving their communities. Learn MORE about the EASTinitiative by visiting their web site! |
