My Favorite Thing
By: Breanna Wines
Mr. Achor’s Homeroom
I love drawing and painting pictures because they look so wonderful when I finish them.
The first thing I do is make an outline of the picture I want to paint. Sometimes, I change my mind after I start outlining, and draw a different picture. I might even draw squiggly lines, or loopy lines, or even bumpy lines to see what kind of shape appears on my page.
Next, I get my paints and colors out of my supply closet in my room. When I open the door, the smell of paints fills my mind. There are all kids of paints for me to choose from. I have watercolors, oils, pastels and a real sloppy paint, acrylic, that I can’t usually paint with. Occasionally, I use colored pencils, pens and crayons to create my pictures.
Blue is usually the color I pick to use first, because it is my favorite color. But I think that aquamarine is the prettiest color in the world of drawing or painting. Most of my paintings are made using watercolor, because they make a painting so bright and glistening.
Then, I start testing my colors or paints on blank paper to create the intensity of the colors I want to use. Once in a while I leave my paints out, and they dry up. That is another reason I use watercolors so much. They are supposed to dry up. This lets me know if I need to use more blue, or purple, or red. I use these three colors a lot.
Last, I draw my final picture and paint it. Roses and all sorts of flowers are something I like to paint. Painting is so fun. I enjoy it so much, that even when I finish one, I want to draw and paint another. There is a blue rose I painted that is one of my favorites.
Truly, drawing and painting is something I love to spend my time doing.
We are VERY proud of you and
